Redesigned Web Site Nears Launch
March 19, 2017
The original UPGA web site was launched in 2003 and has remained basically unchanged. It was essential that a newer design, and most importantly, an updated platform designed for modern devices be implemented at a cost that was not prohibitive. With that in mind, several web hosting and web design business were consulted regarding the redesign.
Two groups had initial design costs that proved to be too costly. Another would build the site at a reasonable cost but would have charged a monthly “securities” fee which would have proved very expensive in the long term. Another business did not have competent answers to some very simple and basic questions, while another developer was new to the business and was unsure about moving some of the existing content to a new platform.
Our current web master suggested we contact My Web Maestro to see if they could offer a new design without “breaking the bank.” Nathan Lyle, owner and designer provided exactly what we were seeking. His fee for the redesign and the hosting of the site was very competitive and fair, so we contracted with him for the work. He created a working prototype with a new design, included all the current site data and did so in an incredibly short time-frame. Most impressive was the time he spent training us to manage the site. He was patient and totally professional, explained things in common terms without undo technical jargon, made numerous positive suggestions and was confident that we would be able maintain the site content competently. He was (and is) a pleasure to work with.
A “shout out” to Julie Melchiori who managed and maintained the site from its inception. She was apprised of the new design and offered many positive suggestions throughout the process. Julie always had (and has) the best interests of the UPGA at heart. She worked hard for us and we will always be indebted to her for her work on behalf of our organization.
