Wawonowin Country Club Suffers Storm Damage
April 26, 2017
Wawonowin Country Club, host club of the 2017 Men’s UPGA Championship, suffered sever tree damage due to a wind storm on April 10th. The damaged trees on the front nine have been cleared and the course will open for play when Mother Nature cooperates. Clean-up on the back nine will begin in the very near future.
Should the Wawonowin Board feel that the damage to the course is too severe to be properly healed by the August tournament date, tentative plans have been made to switch tournament dates with Oak Crest, which is schedule to host the 2018 tournament.
A final decision will be made by the Wawonowin Board by May 23rd.
