2017 UPGA Senior Championship Completed

The 2017 UPGA Men's Senior Championship was held on June 19-20 at Irish Oaks Golf Course in Gladstone, Michigan. The field consisted of 127 participants representing 22 member clubs and was flighted after the opening round into 11 flights.

The golf course was in excellent condition.  The greens were smooth and true, the rough was not overly penal and the fairways were well-defined and very healthy.  Although preferred lies were used for balls in the fairway, the golfers could easily have "played the ball as it lies" without undo duress.

Larry Bratonia of Irish Oaks shot 141 to capture the championship flight and Mark Ray of Highland also shot 141 to capture first flight, forcing a sudden death playoff for the overall championship.  Larry defeated Mark on the 4th playoff hole.

Irish Oaks Golf Course captured the first annual Team Championship with the five-man team of Larry Bratonia, Matt Smith Jr., Randy Eis, Tom Zeni and Dave Harris.

The 2018 UPGA Senior Championship will be hosted by Marquette Golf Club.
