2019 UPGA Senior Championship In The Books

The 2019 Senior UPGA Championship was held on June 17 and 18 at Pine Grove Country Club.  A total of 133 golfers representing twenty-two UPGA member clubs participated.  The course was in excellent condition, the tournament was run professionally and the Pine Grove staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. 

Mark Ray from Highland Golf Club was crowned the champion after defeating defending champion Scott Saari in a one hole play-off.  Both players completed the 36 hole tournament with a score of 142.

The tournament was not without controversy however, as it was reported that some members of the field were guilty of not holing out all putts.  This serious breach of the rules has no place in any of our stroke play tournaments, and will be a point of emphasis at the UPGA Championship in August, at the Annual Meeting and at subsequent Senior Championships.
